Which refund are you tracking?
Before you check.
Have three things ready: your Social Security number (or ITIN), your filing status, and the exact refund amount from the return. Every lookup asks for them.
Timing: the IRS updates its tracker within about 24 hours of e-file acceptance and issues most refunds within 21 days; paper returns and state refunds can take considerably longer, and returns claiming certain credits are held until mid-February by law.
If the tracker stalls: a refund stuck beyond the normal window usually means a notice is coming or identity verification is needed. Don’t refile — talk to us and we’ll run it down.
